Experience the light pink world in Boseong, the largest azalea colony in the country!
Boseong-gun will hold the ‘20th Illimsan Azalea Cultural Event’ at Illimsan Mountain, the largest azalea colony in the country, for three days from May 4th to 6th to coincide with the azalea blooming season.
Illimsan Mountain, located in Ungchi-myeon, Boseong-gun, was named because it is a mountain so deep that you cannot see the sun once you enter the forest. It is a famous mountain rising 667m above sea level just before the Honam vein enters the South Sea, and in early May, about 150ha of light pink azaleas and vast tea fields bloom. Together with the blue sea in the background, it creates a beautiful scenery.
This event begins with a mountain spirit ritual at the top of Illimsan Mountain to pray for the development of Boseong-gun and the harmony and prosperity of the residents, followed by a forest concert, a forest culture photo exhibition, woodworking, cypress cutting, and a local food sales corner, with a variety of experiences that anyone can enjoy. ·We plan to prepare exhibition and sales programs.
In addition, in order to prevent safety accidents due to the rapid increase in the hiking population, we plan to carry out promotional activities to establish a healthy hiking culture, such as carrying out a ‘hiking culture improvement and forest fire prevention campaign’ to instill the value and importance of forests among hikers.
An official from Boseong-gun said, “This year’s azalea flowers will be larger and more colorful than previous years due to the warm climate and good weather conditions.” He added, “In celebration of the family month in May, the whole family will hike together during this event to enjoy the fantastic scenery of the largest azalea colony in the country.” “I highly recommend you watch it,” he said.
Meanwhile, Boseong-gun will be holding the Boseong Tea Culture Festival for five days from May 3rd to 7th in the area of Korea Tea Culture Park, as well as △Boseong-gun People's Day, △Seopyeonje Boseong Song Festival, △Illimsan Azalea Cultural Event, △Children's Day, and △Green Tea Marathon. Various festivals are held, including competitions, △National Yacht Competition, △Daily Concert, and △Drone Light Show.
